Here are three takeaways from No. 20 Oklahoma's 75-72 loss to Texas:
Bad first half doomed Oklahoma
The Sooners outplayed Texas after the break, but a rough first half meant it didn’t matter. Oklahoma scored just 24 points on 30 percent shooting before halftime, including just 2-of-7 from beyond the arc. Christian James and Brady Manek were inefficient, combining for 10 first-half points on 14 attempts.
Jamal Bieniemy almost rescued the Sooners
Freshman guard Jamal Bieniemy got the first start of his career Saturday in Austin, and nearly won Oklahoma the game. After going scoreless in the first half, Bieniemy made three three-pointers after the break, including a big one to pull the Sooners within one point in the game’s final minute.
