Former Oklahoma standouts Sydney Romero, Shelby Pendley and Keilani Ricketts are among 30 softball players invited to participate in the U.S. national team selection trials for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The selection trials will be held Oct. 1-6 at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City. The final 15-player roster and three replacement athletes will be named when the trials conclude.
Romero graduated from OU this spring. The star infielder and her sister, Sierra, previously said they would play for Mexico in the Olympics. Sydney Romero finished her collegiate career as the program leader in at-bats (853) and doubles (58).
