The Oklahoma Sooners have 17 commits in hand with a week and a half until National Signing Day, and we're here to break down the key points of the program's 2016 recruiting class with our Oklahoma Football Recruiting Roundup for January 24th.
Offense (8 commits)
4-star pro-style quarterback Austin Kendall is the likely future of the position in Norman, and he's got four solid offensive linemen coming with him from the 2016 class (including underrated 3-star offensive guard Johncarlo Valentin).
Kendall's also got some skill-position battery mates to play with, as four-star wide receiver Ryan Parker and four-star running back Abdul Adams will provide plenty of speed and field position to the offense in years to come. More on Oklahoma's 2016 class in our Chat Sports iPhone and Android Apps.
Defense (9 commits)
The recent pledge of four-star defensive end Amani Bledsoe gives OU three 4-star defenders, and also provides balance for a class which contains two defensive linemen, three linebackers and three cornerbacks.
Jordan Parker is currently ranked as the #16 overall cornerback in the Class of 2016, but he may be a top-ten cover corner when his collegiate career is all said and down.
What To Expect By Signing Day
The Sooners are in on several big names, but the real gem is five-star linebacker Caleb Kelly. Kelly has been off and on with several other programs over the course of his recruiting process, but he's never wavered on Oklahoma.
OU is the prohibitive favorite to bring Kelly home and strengthen a recruiting haul that's currently hanging out on the outskirts of the Top 25 nationally. The Sooners should be over 20 commits by the time NSD comes to a close. Get more analysis in our Chat Sports iPhone and Android Apps.
