The #17 Oklahoma Sooners rounded back into form in a HUGE way on Saturday, following up last week's dishearting loss to the Texas Longhorns with a 55-0 blowout of the Kansas State Wildcats. Now sitting at 5-1, there's plenty to talk about with the Sooners as the team heads into preparations for next week's home game against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Here's our Oklahoma Football Rumors Roundup: Latest After The Win Over Kansas State.
Sooners Climb To #15 In Coaches' Poll
The Oklahoma Sooners jumped four spots in Sunday's Coaches' Poll release, moving up from #19 to #15, just below the Florida Gators who suffered their first loss of the season last night.
In the AP Poll, Oklahoma jumped two spots from #19 to #17, sandwiched between Texas A&M & Michigan tied at #15 and the undefeated #18 Memphis Tigers who shocked Ole Miss on Saturday.
Oklahoma Gets Their Fast Food On
The Oklahoma Sooners were stranded in the airport for seven hours on Friday night waiting for United Airlines to fix a mechanical problem on their chartered plane.
With the team's normal pregame meal and routines completely mucked, the team's support staff went out to grab any and all fast food they could to ensure the players got fed.
“Our kids hadn’t eaten. I asked our doctors or whoever had a car and drove to the FBO to meet us to just go out and go to any fast food chain you can. Go to different ones - Kind of potluck fast food,” head coach Bob Stoops said. “And try and get 10 burgers, 10 tacos, 10 whatever. If we had 10 people go out and get 10 whatever, we’d feed our players. That’s exactly what we did.
"We had our meal potluck with chicken and everything you could think of. Every five minutes, someone was walking in with bags of whatever. All our support people helped us that way. Players got what they needed to eat.”
OU Back In College Football Playoff Contention?
ESPN's Ray Bentley sure thinks so:
“It actually sets up quite nicely for the Sooners. They are right in the midst with that schedule of being one of the final four. They need to sustain the momentum and the way they approached things this week and performed this afternoon.”
Oklahoma still has games left against TCU, Baylor and Oklahoma State -- the three Big-12 teams currently ahead of OU in the AP and Coaches' polls.
