We're just a month away from National Signing Day, which means there's a bevy of rumors surrounding the Oklahoma Sooners' efforts on the recruiting trail. Here's the biggest recruiting stories from around Norman for December 6th.
Rising LB Hot On Sooners
Three-star Orlando (FL) Oak Ride outside linebacker Jonathan Jones is viewed by some as an underrated talent with star potential, including Oklahoma.
With Dominique Alexander's decision to go pro, the Sooners have doubled down their efforts on Jones and it's starting to pay off.
“I have talked to Coach (Tim) Kish a couple of times and he says he should be down here sometimes in January,” said Jones. “They have told me about Dominique Alexander leaving early to go pro and early in the recruiting process I was interested in the program and learned a lot about them. I like the progress they have made both on and off the field and they are a great program and I know they have a lot to offer.”
The #33 outside linebacker in the Class of 2016, Jones is currently considered to be a Michigan lean with Notre Dame trailing. However, OU is hot on the trail and could play a major factor before National Signing Day.
4-Star OT Making Sooners Wait
Oklahoma seemed to have a commitment completely in hand for four-star Oklahoma City native Tramonda Moore, but the offensive tackle has delayed his decision until after the US Army All-American Bowl on Saturday -- leading to speculation that other contenders could jump in on him.
Moore will visit Oklahoma State on the weekend of January 15th and will head to Alabama the weekend after. Arizona State, UCLA and Oregon are in contention for his final official visit.
Having visited Norman on the weekend of December 11th, Moore seemed smitten with the culture around OU. However, the Class of 2016's 17th overall offensive tackle still has some thinking to do before he makes a final commitment.
