Jimmy Stevens’ 31-yard field goal with just over two minutes remaining in Saturday night’s game gave the Sooners a 10-point lead and, ultimately, assured them of a win over Florida State.
What made Stevens’ attempt memorable, though, was Bob Stoops’ facial expression as the ball barely cleared the crossbar.

When asked if he spoke to Stevens as he came off the field, Stoops said, “I didn’t say anything to him. I was afraid if I said something to him, the outcome (of the kick) might have changed.”
Stevens’ line drive reminded him of some of his drives on the golf course, Stoops said.
“He had good aim, just not real good trajectory,” Stoops said. “You know sometimes you’ve got that 400-yard par 4 and you hit one out there about 150 (yards). You say, ‘well at least it’s in the middle.’”
Stevens, who has made every one of his field-goal attempts this season, will remain the Sooners’ starting kicker, Stoops said.
However, redshirt freshman kicker Michael Hunnicutt will get more chances as the season goes on, he said.
"I’ve been incredibly happy with what he’s doing here in the last two weeks so I need to get him out there more,” he said.
