The Oklahoma Sooners fell short of a berth in the inaugural College Football Playoff, but still have plenty of positives to take out of this season in Norman. Major favorites to take down a discombobulated Oklahoma State team in Bedlam next Saturday, the Sooners could very well be playing for a fifth-straight double-digit win season come bowl time.
Who's likely to be standing in their way? Here's our picks for Oklahoma's 3 Most Likely Bowl Opponents.
Georgia Tech
If you were to bet on both a likely destination and opponent for the Oklahoma Sooners, the Russell Athletic Bowl and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets would be an almost-guaranteed winner. There is still a chance that Oklahoma could somehow market themselves into the Alamo Bowl, but a very talented Tech team in the home of Disneyworld is not a bad consolation prize.
UCLA
Alamo Bowl possibility #1 - the UCLA Bruins and their sometimes porous defense. This would be an intriguing battle of UCLA's pass offense vs. Oklahoma's run offense, with each defense doing its best to keep pinball-like scoring off the board. If anything, this might be one of the more fun matchup possibilities for two teams that fell short of their national championship dreams this season.
Arizona
Alamo Bowl possibility #2 - the Arizona Wildcats and their equally-as-potent pass offense. Arizona beat Oregon once, so there's a possibility they could do it again in the Pac-12 title game and move on to the New Year's Six. However, if they fall to UO, they have a very good shot of landing in San Antonio. If the Sooners somehow get the nod to face the Wildcats, Zona's top-20 passing and scoring offense presents a similar threat to that of UCLA.
