The Sooners host Kansas trying to make it back-to-back wins after losing to Baylor. Oklahoma comes into this matchup ranked #21, but they are buried at fifth in the Big 12 and need a win to boost their status for a potential bowl game.
Records:
Oklahoma: 7-3 (4-3 Big 12)
Kansas: 3-7 (1-6 Big 12)
Last Meeting: Oklahoma won 34-19 in 2013
Oklahoma Outlook: The Sooners won last week despite being without injured starter Trevor Knight. Now Oklahoma is looking for another win before their rivalry with Oklahoma State to conclude the regular season.
Samaje Perine eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark last week, and has scored 14 touchdowns on the year to lead the Sooners in both categories.
Receiver Sterling Shepard is closing in on 1,000 yards receiving, coming into this game with 957 yards.
Kansas Outlook: The Jayhawks gave TCU a run for their money last week, losing 34-30. After winning their first Big 12 game the week before, Kansas is playing much better than their previous eight games.
The Jayhawks have had modest production from their skill players, but their leading receiver is tight end Jimmay Mundine (537 yards) and leading rusher Corey Avery (565 yards) has excelled as a freshman starter.
What to watch for: Cody Thomas will once again fill in for injured Trevor Knight after struggling against Texas Tech last week.
Thomas threw three interceptions in that game, and his performance against Kansas could be more important than usual, as the Jayhawks have been playing much better recently.
What they're saying:
Knight won't play against Kansas, Thomas to start (Yardbarker)
Bob Stoops to Florida? (Yardbarker)
Prediction:
Oklahoma - 38, Kansas - 17
The Sooners should still be okay even with Cody Thomas at quarterback, and despite Kansas playing TCU tough last week, Oklahoma has a decided advantage playing at home in this matchup.
