Three-star Warren (Mich.) De La Salle Collegiate High linebacker Eric Rogers is starting to garner a buzz usually reserved for four- and five-star defensive standouts, and he's hoping that buzz will help him land an offer from one of the teams he's recently chatted with -- the Oklahoma Sooners.
“I have talked to Oklahoma, but really it has been my dad that has mostly talked to Oklahoma,” said Rogers, via 247Sports. “My dad and the Oklahoma coaches have touched base a lot, but hopefully soon I can touch base with them and make our relationship stronger. I currently have nine offers and they are mostly from MAC schools. I have offers from Toledo, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Buffalo, Bowling Green, Ball State, Miami of Ohio and Cincinnati.”
While Rogers says he's happy with the list of teams that have already extended offers, he's hoping that his performances at multiple camps and combines this summer leads to that list growing in number and quality.
“I don’t have a leader or top five yet,” Rogers said. “I still have a while before I make my decision so I am still going through the recruiting process. I haven’t really been trying to work the recruiting process too hard and, like I said, I am letting my dad handle most of that stuff right now.
“This summer I want to get ready for next season, but I want to get out to camps as well, and I am still trying to put my camp road trip together," he added. "I want to get out and just let my talent do the talking for me and get some exposure. This spring is very important for me as I am trying to get faster and get more explosion when I get to the football, and I want to show off my talent for a number of programs in their summer camps. So I will work hard this summer and then once I get into football season I will try to take my official visits.”
