In this Oklahoma football news and rumors update, five-star running back recruit Joe Mixon will remain with the Oklahoma Sooners despite Monday's one-year suspension from all team football activities. This is the wake of the Cleveland County District Attorney charging him with one misdemeanor count of an act resulting in a gross injury.
Per Brent Sobleski of NBC's College Football Talk, "the running back maintains his innocence in the matter, and the automatic question asked was whether or not he would remain at the school after its decision."
Mixon responded quickly via Twitter:
I love OU and my Teammates I'm Here to Win Championships And to win A Heisman! I'm loyal to this Man @OU_CoachStoops
As a condition of his suspension, Mixon is banned from all team activities and has been removed from the team's roster. He is still allowed to attend the school and receive financial aid under "appropriate conditions."
Sophomores Keith Ford and Alex Ross are expected to shoulder the backfield load this season, with the talented Mixon slated to join the fray in 2015.
