Oklahoma Football News: Surveillance Tape Of Joe Mixon, Amelia Molitor Assault Incident Described

In this Oklahoma football news and rumors update, assembled members of media were made privy to a surveillance tape of the alleged assault incident involving Oklahoma Sooners running back Joe Mixon and Amelia Molitor.

While the media were allowed to view the tape, no photographs or recordings were allowed of the evidence - making this firsthand account from KOCO's Abigail Ogle and Kim Passoth the closest we can get to a full view into what exactly went down on July 25th:

KOCO reporters who saw the video said the incident lasted about five seconds.

Abigail Ogle said there was no audio on the surveillance video, but that it appeared that Molitor motioned for Mixon to come over to the table. She said the video showed Molitor pushing Mixon. Then, the video showed him getting in Molitor's face. Ogle said Molitor slapped Mixon and he punched her in the side of the face.

The time code on the video showed that at 2:39:36 a.m., Molitor pushed Mixon. According to Ogle, by 2:39:38 a.m., Molitor was on the ground after being punched. KOCO Reporter Kim Passoth said Molitor laid on the floor for about 40 seconds and was bleeding from the face.

Mixon was charged with misdemeanor assault after the incident, before subsequently being suspended for the entire season by the Sooners football program. Police indicate that head coach Bob Stoops and AD Joe Castigilone were shown the tape before making the decision to suspend Mixon.
