Oklahoma Football News: No "Rocky Top," Tennessee Marching Band In Norman On Saturday

In this Oklahoma football news and rumors update, the Oklahoma Sooners won't have to worry about the Tennessee Volunteers' marching band if and when the Vols score in the teams' interconference clash on Saturday.

According to Kevin McGuire of NBC's College Football Talk, "Tennessee will not be bringing their marching band with them for the SEC vs. Big 12 clash between the Vols and Sooners."

With costs rising when it comes to sending programs from one school to another, it is a developing reality in college football that visiting teams sometimes have to cut extraneous costs in order to make ends meet in their travel budgets.

Per McGuire, "some schools simply do not have the budgets to send 300-400 member marching bands to even the biggest games on the schedule. If a school has to limit the trips for the band, sending the band to the top rivalry games will always be preferred. Tennessee still has road games at Georgia, South Carolina and Vanderbilt that will be more likely to see the band make the trip, you would think."

With Oklahoma/Tennessee not a rivalry game, the atmosphere in Norman will likely take a bit of a hit so that UT can have "Rocky Top" blaring behind them come SEC play.
