In this Oklahoma football news and rumors update, the #4 Oklahoma Sooners are up for a battle in Morgantown, WV on Saturday when they lock horns with the West Virginia Mountaineers.
Firstly, the Mountaineers are much improved from a dismal 2013 campaign, riding a potent offense to a near-upset of Alabama along with a victory at Maryland last week.
Secondly, West Virginia's fans are some of the loudest in the game, as some of the Sooners veterans are well aware of after 2012's visit to Morgantown.
Finally, Oklahoma will be without top ground threat Keith Ford, who is nursing a broken fibula.
As News On 6 reporter Luke McConnell puts it, "all those factors combine to make Saturday a bit of a tricky situation. People aren't calling it a prime upset chance, but everyone is aware of how difficult this game will be for the Sooners and know it's not to be taken lightly."
Sticky situation or not, the Oklahoma Sooners' "next man up" mentality could very well be more than enough to squash a Mountaineer uprising before it gets started.
