The Oklahoma Sooners have their fair share of impact talents to work with on their road to College Football Playoff glory in 2015, and these next guys are the biggest assets of all. Here's our list of the 6 Best Oklahoma Football Players For 2015.
6) DE Charles Tapper, Sr.
The 6-4, 283-pounder has a good - but not great - year with 37 tackles and three sacks with 7.5 tackles for loss in 2014, and he's expected to take another step forward this season. Tapper won't blow you away with his speed, but his strength and toughness plug running lanes and allow him to be disruptive in the backfield.
5) OL Nila Kasitati, Sr.
At 6-4 and 315 pounds, he’s not the biggest lineman the Sooners have, but he is the most reliable. He can play either guard position and is excellent in opening up running lanes, which earned him All-Big 12 honors last season.
4) CB Zack Sanchez, Jr.
Sanchez was the lone bright spot in a struggling Sooners secondary last season, recording 43 tackles with six interceptions and eight broken up passes. He’s a big play defender that knows how to create turnovers and deliver big hits, making him someone the opposition has to account for on every single play.
3) LB Eric Striker, Sr.
The 6-0, 223-pounder is the most versatile player the Sooners have, working at linebacker, safety, and pass rushing end last season. Striker racked up 68 tackles with nine sacks and 17 tackles for loss in 2015, using his speed and football IQ to be an absolute nightmare for opposing quarterbacks.
2) WR Sterling Shepard, Sr.
Shepard emereged as Oklahoma's go-to receiver in 2015, catching 51 passes for 970 yards with five touchdowns, averaging 19 yards per catch. More impressively, he did all of that in just nine games as he missed the last part of the season with a groin injury. The Sooners will need this big play ability both as a receiver and as a punt returner if they want to make the College Football Playoff.
1) RB Samaje Perine, So.
Perine started his freshman season splitting carries with Oklahoma's two other running backs, but he ended any thoughts of a platoon when he rushed for 427 yards against Kansas...a new FBS single-game record. That was enough to put anyone on the map, and he then continued to dominate for the rest of the season. Perine figures to play an even bigger role in his second season in Normal, and could finish the year with the Heisman trophy.
