The Oklahoma Sooners got their biggest win of the season last weekend against TCU, and they get a chance to avenge their only loss last regular season against Texas. Here are three reasons why they'll be able to knock off the Longhorns:
3) Texas' terrible defense
My goodness, everyone has been putting points up on the Longhorns this year. They've given up at least 47 points in three of the four games they have played this season, putting them 116th in the country in points allowed per game. Oklahoma's high-powered offense should have an absolute field day against this group.
2) Baker Mayfield
Mayfield got his season back on track with a spectacular 329 total yard, four total touchdown performance against TCU, and he's primed to have another massive game on Saturday. Texas gives up nearly 300 yards per game through the air, ranking 104th in the country in that category - and could be going with some first-time starters in this one. All that adds up to a big day for Mayfield.
1) Statement game
Simply put, Oklahoma needs this game more. With their College Football Playoff hopes likely dashed, the Sooners are now playing to win the Big 12 title again. Losing this game could cause their season to go into a complete tailspin (and raise questions about Bob Stoops' future with the program), but this team is too good for that. They've shifted all of their focus to dominating the conference, and they'll take all of their frustrations out against a vulnerable Texas team that is reeling.
