The Oklahoma Sooners are riding high on a six-game winning streak, putting them in first place in the Big 12, and now comes their toughest conference test to date against Baylor. Oklahoma is the favorite to win, and for good reason. Here are three reasons why they're guaranteed to win on Saturday:
3) Baylor's struggles
Baylor did what Baylor does at the start of the season, looking impressive against lesser competition on their way to a 6-0 start. Now, since they've hit conference play, the Bears are coming off consecutive losses to Texas and TCU (which they lost by 40 points). This is a team that's reeling right now, and they're not going to turn it around against a red-hot Oklahoma team.
2) Oklahoma's offense vs Baylor's defense
Baylor's defense has struggled this season against Power 5 schools not named Kansas, giving up an average of 40.8 points per game in those four contests - which has Oklahoma's offense licking their chops. The Sooners might have gotten off to a rough start, but this offense has helped turned their season around. Led by quarterback Baker Mayfield, running back Joe Mixon and wide receiver Dede Westbrook, they rank third in the country in yards (558 per game) and seventh in points (44.1 per game). They'll have another huge game against the Bears.
1) Home-field advantage
Very few teams come into Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium and walk away with a victory. The Sooners are 99-8 at home under Bob Stoops, a level of dominance that other teams can only hope to match. In 25 matchups between the two teams, Baylor has only won in Norman once. Expect the home crowd to push the Sooners to a victory.
