The NBA Draft is over and the Oklahoma City Thunder have turned their complete attention to the start of free agency on July 1st. The Thunder's offseason plans are centered around making sure they keep Kevin Durant, although adding another player or two is still an option. Here are all the latest Thunder rumors and news and you need to know.
The Favorite For Durant?
Kevin Durant will take meetings with several teams, but only one team is going to land the most coveted free agent this offseason. Anthony Slater of The Oklahoman called the Thunder the favorite, which shouldn't be a major surprise. As Slater mentioned, Durant can make the most money with the Thunder and has a strong connection to the team and area. Plus, the Thunder still have a strong roster around Durant. The Warriors in particular are a serious threat, but the Thunder are the still the favorite, if only for Durant to take a one-year deal with a player option so he can decide his future alongside Russell Westbrook next summer.
Thunder Interested In Lance Thomas?
ESPN's Ian Begley reports the Knicks expect to re-sign power forward Lance Thomas, but he'll have interest from teams like the Thunder.
"The Thunder, Nets and Mavericks are among the teams who are expected to have interest in the 28-year-old Thomas, per league sources," reports Begley. "The market for Thomas is unclear but hell certainly benefit from the salary-cap increase. The cap will increase from $70 million to $94 million this summer."
Thomas put up 8.2 points and 2.2 rebounds per game and would be a role player for the Thunder. He showed some 3-point shooting ability this year, but is best as a defensive stopper. He could be an ideal platoon player alongside Ersan Ilyasova in OKC.
