The San Diego Chargers are no more. Back in Los Angeles, where they were founded in 1960 before heading south for San Diego.
It’s a sad day in San Diego, same as any city that loses a sports franchise. The difference in this relocation is the lack of revelry that will greet the Chargers in LA. If the Chargers were moving to Albuquerque or San Antonio or Virginia Beach, parades and parties would ensue from now until opening kickoff. Instead, they’re leaving behind tears in San Diego to be greeted by yawns in Los Angeles.
And it got me to thinking about cities that lose franchises.
