DENVER — Dennis Schroder gathered his teammates in the lane, and the five Thunder reserves stood with their arms wrapped around each other.
“The game wasn’t over yet,” Schroder said of that moment.
This was essentially the same group that had begun to pull the Thunder back into the game after a staggering first-quarter deficit. But the Thunder didn’t finish the comeback in a 110-102 loss to the Nuggets at the Pepsi Center Saturday.
Denver (16-8) left its starters in for most of the third quarter, and with just a minute and a half left, OKC (11-14) needed its second unit to again chip away at the Nuggets’ lead.
