As Deonte Burton finished his postgame interview, headset on, seated at the scorers’ table, a huddle of children leaned over the rail behind him.
They yelled his name, and one boy called, “You’re going to ignore me like that?”
Because at G League games, even the player who scored the game-winning layup feels that approachable.
Burton scored the Blue’s last four points in a 106-102 win over the Canton Charge Saturday, on a night when he bounced back from a slow offensive start to score 19 points.
And of course, he did not ignore his young fans.
