BOSTON – A bespectacled man wearing a Patriots cap over a beanie banged on the window, and a woman sitting on the other side of the glass stood and gave him a double high-five through the pane.
Stephen Gostkowski’s field goal attempt had just soared through the uprights, essentially securing a Super Bowl victory for New England. The Patriots fans both inside and outside of the Beantown Pub in downtown Boston were of course thrilled.
I was in Boston to cover the Thunder’s 134-129 loss to the Celtics, a matinee that lacked defense ahead of a Super Bowl that was nothing but defense.
