Add Chris Paul’s name to the list of professional athletes who have spoken in favor of California’s Fair Pay to Play Act.
On Monday California Governor Gavin Newsom signed an act that will let college athletes earn money off their name, likeness and image by hiring an agents to set up business and sponsorship deals. It will not force schools to pay players but still challenges the NCAA’s amateurism rules.
“A lot of times your parents may not have enough for you to even go to that college,” Paul said after Thunder practice Friday. “You can’t have a job because you’ve got training and you’ve got all this different type of stuff.
