The Thunder will open the 2015-16 season against LaMarcus Aldridge and the new-look San Antonio Spurs, The Oklahoman has learned.
It will mark the second time in four seasons that OKC has opened its season against the rival Spurs. The Thunder lost to the Spurs by two in San Antonio to start the 2012-13 season.
San Antonio is widely considered this offseason’s biggest winner after acquiring Aldridge, a four-time All-Star, in free agency. Aldridge, who averaged a career-high 23.4 points to go with 10.2 rebounds last year, joined Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker and Kawhi Leonard to rejuvenate an aging Spurs roster.
