Some San Antonio people were talking before Game 5 at the AT&T Center the other night. The Thunder had tied the series 2-2, and they were trying to figure out how Gregg Popovich could ignite the Spurs. Their theory: go to a small-ball lineup. Try to get another shooter on the court.
Pop didn’t do that in Game 5, and the Thunder won a 95-91 prizefight.
But at halftime of Game 6 Thursday night, with the Thunder up 55-31 and blowing the roof off Chesapeake Arena on its way to an eventual 113-99 victory, Popovich decided a small lineup couldn’t hurt.
