The Thunder signed, and then shortly thereafter waived, guard Sedrick Barefield and forwards Vincent Edwards and Kadeem Jack, the team announced Saturday.
Teams around the NBA made similar moves, using the affiliate player mechanism to add to their G League affiliates.
The affiliate player rule allows a team to retain up to four of the players it waives while trimming its roster ahead of the season. Prospects designated as affiliate players are automatically allocated to the team’s G League affiliate as long as they sign a G League contract. Affiliate players are considered NBA free agents.
On Thursday, OKC waived four training camp invitees, making room on the Thunder roster to pull off the move.
