Thunder Q&A: Terrance Ferguson on mentoring, the future of prep-to-pro prospects

In just two years, Terrance Ferguson has come a long way.

Two summers ago, Ferguson had turned 19 years old just weeks before the Thunder selected him No. 21 overall in the NBA Draft. Now, Ferguson has a daughter and is providing his wisdom to the latest pro prospect to follow his path from high school to the professional ranks in Australia.

This week, Texas high schooler RJ Hampton announced he’d bypass college to play for the New Zealand Breakers of Australia’s National Basketball League. Ferguson, who went from high school to the NBL’s Adelaide 36ers in 2017, helped Hampton through the process, texting and talking to the five-star recruit about the challenges of making the move overseas.
