Thunder coach Billy Donovan said Steven Adams will likely miss the Thunder’s first preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves as he continues to work through back soreness.
Adams participated in some contact portions of Thunder practice Tuesday, but has practiced sparingly since missing practice last Thursday. The 7-footer was also held out of the Thunder’s scrimmage Sunday.
“My guess is right now, from a precautionary standpoint, they’ll probably hold him out,” Donovan said. “I think he’s moving in the right direction, I just don’t think he’ll play tomorrow.”
Adams will get a chance to work out some in Minnesota, but Donovan was unsure if Adams would be available for the Thunder’s preseason home debut Friday against Fenerbache Ulker.
