Steve Kerr claimed victory No. 251 in his NBA coaching career with a 129-83 rout of the Phoenix Suns on Monday night. Of course, 39 of those victories were actually Luke Walton’s, when he served as interim coach of the Warriors two years ago when Kerr had back trouble. And now you can add a 40th Kerr win that’s a little undeserved.
Kerr didn’t coach Golden State on Monday night. At least not during timeouts. Kerr let veterans Draymond Green, Andre Igoudala and David West run the Golden State huddles. Draw up the plays, give the motivation speeches, everything that coaches traditionally do during timeouts.
