'Someone I love like a brother': Dayton's Anthony Grant, Thunder's Billy Donovan achieved separate successes this season

Hours before the NBA went dark, Jazz coach Quin Snyder praised Billy Donovan and talked of how they knew each other from when they “both had a cup of coffee in college.”

Snyder, who coached Missouri from 1999-2006, immediately knew he misspoke.

“I had a cup of coffee,” Snyder said. “He had a thermos.”

Whatever the vessel, Anthony Grant was alongside Donovan for more than half the fill.

After coaching together for 12 college seasons and two more in the NBA, Donovan and Grant have achieved separate successes this season. Grant, who led Dayton to a 29-2 record, has already been named AP Coach of the Year.
