PHILADELPHIA – Thunder assistant coach Maurice Cheeks was a Philadelphia 76ers legend and NBA champion long before he came to Oklahoma City.
The Sixers are making sure Cheeks’ legacy lives on, as they’ll unveil a sculpture of the former point guard outside their training complex in Camden, N.J. The sculpture will be revealed via a video montage during Friday’s game at the Wells Fargo Center.
Cheeks, who has been an assistant with the Thunder six seasons, will be the fourth sculpture on “76ers Legends Walk,” joining Sixers legends and Basketball Hall of Famers Hal Greer, Billy Cunningham and Wilt Chamberlain.
