It was Russell Westbrook who saw the mismatch, who recognized that Pistons point guard Ish Smith – a relative half-pint at 6-foot – was defending 6-foot-5 Anthony Morrow and established that the Thunder on Saturday night would go to Morrow in the post.
That combination of vision decision-making has become commonplace.
It's why Westbrook is flirting with a triple-double average through 18 games, and it's a big part of why the Thunder pummeled the Pistons 106-88 Saturday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena behind Westbrook's 17 points, 15 assists and 13 rebounds.
“He can do so many things,” Thunder coach Billy Donovan said of Westbrook.
