Despite the Thunder’s efforts to trade Chris Paul, the 34-year-old point guard may start the season in OKC.
Trade talks involving Paul are “parked,” ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Wednesday. The Thunder, Paul and his representatives have reportedly been working together to find a preferable destination for Paul since the Rockets traded him to OKC, along with two first-round draft picks (2024 and 2026) and two first-round pick swaps (2021 and 2025), for Russell Westbrook. The trade became official Tuesday.
“Getting a player of Chris’ caliber gives us another experienced playmaker and leader,” Thunder general manager Sam Presti said in the team release announcing the trade, “while the additional draft picks continue to allow us to further commit to the long-term vision that we are embarking on for the Thunder.
