Oklahoma City Thunder center Steven Adams is reportedly set to join the New Zealand men’s national basketball team. Charlie Bristow, of the New Zealand sports site, RadioSport, reports that Adams is “informal talks” with coach Paul Henare.
Adams was in his homeland following the end of the season and discussed “his participation in the upcoming Oceania Olympic qualifying series.” Tall Blacks coach Henare had this to say about the discussion with Adams:
“Things are progressing nicely. We’re in constant communication with OKC, but I’m pretty confident that we’ll, at some stage soon, sit down and talk through details and dates and availability and those sorts of things.
