BETHANY — Every year, Charlotte, N.C., hosts the Jay Bilas Skills Camp, and its namesake has a short commute to the event.
The camp's second location, at Southern Nazarene University, is a bit of a haul.
But when Bilas, an ESPN analyst and former Duke forward who lives in Charlotte, was looking to expand his skills-camp brand, the Oklahoma City area was a logical destination. The Charlotte event frequently includes campers from all over the Midwest, and Bilas sought a centralized second location.
The event's first year here drew about 60 high-school aged campers for three days of drills, games and evaluation.
