Q&A: ESPN's Kara Lawson on her path to NBA analyst

SALT LAKE CITY — Kara Lawson knows all about the NBA, but even she's having new experiences after 14 years in broadcasting.

Lawson's broadcasting career started in 2004 in Sacramento as a studio analyst for the Kings and has taken her from the pros to college basketball to a position as an ESPN basketball analyst. All the while, she was still playing ball, until retiring to broadcast full time in 2015.

After a playing career in which she was the point guard under the legendary Pat Summitt at Tennessee, won a WNBA Championship with the Sacramento Monarchs and won a gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Lawson is currently one of the few female NBA analysts, as she started as the TV analyst for the Washington Wizards in 2017.
