OU Medicine named official health care partner of the Oklahoma City Thunder

OU Medicine will be the "official health care partner" of the Oklahoma City Thunder for the next 10 years, under an agreement announced Wednesday.

OU Medicine will provide expertise and resources to support the Thunder medical staff. The organizations also will work together on advocacy and public education to drive awareness on key health issues.

Thunder Executive Vice President Danny Barth said in a statement issued Wednesday that the collaboration is "centered on research, technology, cross-learning and creative thinking."

OU Medicine CEO Chuck Spicer said the two organizations "share a love of community."

"A partnership with the Oklahoma City Thunder was not only a natural fit for us, but was an opportunity to merge two brands that value innovation, learning and trailblazing in our respective fields," Spicer said in a statement.
