Scotty Brooks was a known commodity. Brooks put the even in keeled. The laid in back. The steady in as-she-goes.
Brooks is the only coach the Thunder has ever known, except for those 13 forgettable games back in autumn 2008, when Kevin Durant wasn’t even a superstar, Russell Westbrook wasn’t even starting and Serge Ibaka wasn’t even in America. In other words, hard to remember a world without Brooks’ normalness roaming the Thunder sideline.
The Thunder coach was the same yesterday, today and, well, not forever. Nothing’s forever in the NBA.
Thunder general manager Sam Presti fired Brooks on Wednesday, and you couldn’t get Presti to say one bad thing about Brooks’ coaching, even under threat of a Matt Barnes elbow.
