The firing of Scott Brooks ruled the Thunder headlines on Wednesday. But during Sam Presti’s press conference discussing the decision and impending coaching search, he also briefly delved into another move that is key for this franchise moving forward — Enes Kanter’s free agency.
Kanter is restricted this summer, meaning he can either re-sign with the Thunder or sign an offer sheet elsewhere, which OKC will have the chance to match. From the sounds of it, Presti plans to retain Kanter.
“We wouldn’t have traded for him if we didn’t feel like we’d be in a position to have him with us going forward,” Presti said.
