Oklahoma City Thunder guard Cameron Payne underwent surgery to repair a Jones fracture on his right foot, the team announced Monday.
He is expected to be fully cleared and ready for training camp in October.
Payne began dealing with soreness in March and the team identified the issue, reducing his training plan and having him wear a walking boot before and after practices and games.
Payne, selected 14th overall out of Murray State in 2015, participated in Summer League for the Thunder, but along with the team decided the best course of action would be a proactive surgery to prevent the injury from becoming a bigger issue next season.
