Kevin Durant was ready to fire off one of his trademark transition 3-pointers.
Just as Durant went to pull up midway in the fourth quarter against Atlanta, a whistle blew. He looked to the sideline and saw teammates and Billy Donovan walking onto the Chesapeake Energy Arena court. Timeout.
Durant reacted like a golfer interrupted mid-backswing by a camera flash, his jaw tightening, both hands clutching the ball.
“Definitely was gonna pull up on that one,” Durant said afterward. “I'm glad he called timeout because that might have been a bad shot.”
Donovan was fine with Durant's shot, but he was instead thinking about how to fix the defense while the Thunder was on offense.
