Oklahomans wait for the Acme anvil to drop. Russell Westbrook seems sure to be traded. Chasing an NBA title has been as futile as chasing the Roadrunner. We’re just like Wile E. Coyote; we know the anvil’s dropping, we just don’t know when.
And here’s why. Westbrook is hard to trade. The franchises that would want to take on Westbrook’s burdensome contract are few, and the franchises that could take on Westbrook’s burdensome contract are few, and dang few franchises are on both lists.
But it should be even harder than that to trade Westbrook, because an additional qualifier needs to be added.
