Sometime Friday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Russell Westbrook will become the 109th player in NBA history to reach 4,000 assists.
Westbrook, who is currently fourth in the NBA in assists per game (9.5) this season, enters tonight’s game with 3,999 career assists in 547 regular season games.
“It’s a blessing to be able to play for this long, to be on the floor, to be able to accomplish a goal like that,” Westbrook said Friday.
Eighteen active players have surpassed the 4,000-assist mark. Westbrook will be the 19th.
