TULSA — Two years ago, Kevin Durant used his MVP speech to single out every one of his teammates. But he made sure to save Russell Westbrook for last.
“I know you guys think I forgot about Russ,” he joked, before sending a genuine and tearful appreciation in Westbrook's direction. “Just stay the person you are. Everybody loves you here.”
On Thursday night in Tulsa, Durant was again honored, accepting his election into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. But the script was temporarily flipped. Westbrook was Durant's presenter. He was given the microphone and a stage to talk about Durant.
