Randy Foye arrived in Oklahoma City attached to $9.8 million in tax savings. By unloading both D.J. Augustin and Steve Novak — two guys out of the Thunder rotation when the trade went down in mid-February — to Denver for Foye, general manager Sam Presti sliced funds that should help his franchise in the future.
That's what made the deal appealing for OKC. Anything else Foye delivered would be a bonus.
