Mark Daigneault has been promoted from assistant coach to head coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder, the organization announced Wednesday.
The Thunder's coaching search, which lasted more than two months, ends with an in-house hire who worked closely with former coach Billy Donovan. Daigneault (DAYG-nalt) spent last season on Donovan's staff, and he served four years at Florida as an assistant under Donovan. Daigneault made the move to Oklahoma City one year sooner than Donovan.
Daigneault, 35, spent five seasons as head coach of the G League Oklahoma City Blue before joining the Thunder's staff last year.
