Shane McKinzie said he and his girlfriend hadn't been in their seats more than five seconds Sunday before they were approached by a Thunder representative.
He had a chance at $20,000, and he almost passed.
“We thought about turning it down,” said McKinzie, 23, but we signed up and said, ‘Ah, what the heck?'”
Good choice, Shane. The Bristow native made a halfcourt shot to win $20,000 in the MidFirst Bank Shot Contest at Chesapeake Energy Arena. The shot was the ninth halfcourt shot made in 100 games (playoffs included) at The Peake.
McKinzie and his girlfriend, Lindsay Beckman, each shot free throws against another team of two to see who would get a chance at the halfcourt shot.
