OKC Thunder: How Domantas Sabonis was a pro before he came to OKC

Arms extended out of classroom doors, cell phone cameras in hand. One teacher's voice called out “back to class” as the 6-foot-11 Domantas Sabonis made his way down the hallways of Northwest Classen High School on Monday.

As he visited with the football team, smiled wide for photos and remarked on the Oklahoma heat, it could have easily been forgotten that the Thunder rookie just turned 20 in May. He's not far removed from his high school years … except his experience was a little different.

Call it the accelerated track to the NBA.

Before Sabonis, the Thunder's youngest player, even became a college athlete, he was already a professional basketball player in Spain — a unique opportunity which laid the foundation for his NBA career.
