NBA firsts in Oklahoma are becoming as rare as a cool breeze in summer.
Time was, something was always happening in our NBA world for the first time. First playoff run. First big trade. First Joey Crawford shenanigan that made you face palm.
Now, most firsts have long ago come and gone.
Which makes Billy Donovan unique.
Oklahoma City has seen its share of new head coaches, of course. We got our first one, Byron Scott, when the Hornets landed here a decade ago. We got another, P.J. Carlesimo, when the Thunder arrived. And we got still another when the Thunder axed Carlesimo midstream and promoted Scott Brooks.
