On Wednesday morning, the team announced that Enes Kanter underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, knocking him out of offseason activity for 4-6 weeks.
Last summer, both Nick Collison (in June) and Perry Jones (in July) had similar knee scopes and both were ready for training camp. Because the Thunder was eliminated before the postseason, Kanter’s procedure came far sooner (late April), putting him on track to return to court activity by early June.
This procedure comes during an interesting time for Kanter, as he enters the offseason as a restricted free agent. He’s expected to garner upwards of $10-$12 million per season on the open market, but there’s a high expectation that even if Kanter were to sign an offer sheet elsewhere, the Thunder would match.
