When Caron Butler and the Bucks agreed to a buyout in February 2014, Butler’s list of suitors was impressive. Both the Spurs and Heat, who would meet four months later in the NBA Finals, wanted him.
Instead, the 33-year-old Butler signed with the Thunder. The two-time All-Star shot 44 percent from 3-point range in 22 regular-season games with OKC. But Butler went cold in the playoffs and was benched in Game 6 of the 2014 Western Conference Finals when the Spurs eliminated the Thunder.
Butler played for nine teams in 14 NBA seasons. His best years came with the Wizards from 2005-10, and he won an NBA championship with the Mavericks in 2011.
